昔、中国の杞の国に天地が崩れ落ちてくるのを心配ばかりしていた
人がいたといいます。将来のことについてあれこれ無用の心配をす
ることは愚かなことであるというのが定説ですが、地面が崩れたり
海が割れたりしているのを見ていると、杞憂の気持を持って災害に
心を配る事はしなければならないと思いました。（年縄）

秋(日時未定) Turkey Flat Blind Prediction Workshop (San Francisco, USA)
2004年9月28日に米国カリフォルニア州パークフィールドで
地震が起きました．この地震は以前から発生が予測されていた
もので，この地震の震源域にあるTurkey Flatは，1985年に
IAEE/IASPEIのJWGとしてはじまったESGのテストサイトで，
地盤調査や地震観測が行われ，weak-motionブラインドテスト
が1990年に行われました．今回この「待望の」強震記録が観測
され，このサイトでのパークフィールド地震記録のBlind
Predictionを行うことになりました．このプロジェクトでは，
盆地外及び地中のデータを公開して，盆地内の波形などの
Blind predictionを行うもので，その結果を今年の秋にサン
フランシスコでのワークショップで議論するというものです．
